Jill Morgan is an interiors and property editor with over 20 years experience working for leading magazine titles and marketing companies. She's a regular contributor to Modern Gardens magazine, writing many of the Buyer's Guides and keeping readers in the know when it comes to all the latest and greatest garden products.

She's had a strong interest in plants and gardening since an early age, helping her grandparents create numerous gardens and grow veg. Her regular holiday job while studying was at a local Sussex wholesale plant nursery where she gained an valuable insight into the horticultural industry.

Since graduating, and working in magazines, Jill's own gardens have included a tiny roof-top terrace in central London, a town garden dominated by a large horse chestnut tree, two allotments and her current north-facing patch. The latter is the setting for many family and creative projects from bird feeding and veggie growing to den building and mini-pond dipping.

One of her favourite projects was creating a tiny wildlife pond and she was amazed at how quickly it attracted birds, frogs and insects. And the spot she's most fond of is the 1 x 2m flowerbed in her front garden. It's a constantly changing display that's packed with colour, from the first mini daffs and alliums through to the bold and blowsy dahlias in late autumn. She particularly loves to see it bringing pleasure to people walking by. Her continual battle is with her very shady, north-facing lawn. She's relaid it with turf, reseeded it twice but looking at it now she's wondering whether a gravel garden would be a better option!

Jill is always on the look out for new gardens to visit and new plant combinations to try at home. She says that one of the best parts of her job is visiting Royal Horticultural Society shows, spotting new design ideas, planting trends and emerging designers. Be sure to say hello if you see her there!
