Whether you need to weed your patio, a paved driveway, or garden paths, these electric-powered tools use sturdy nylon and metal brushes to 'sweep' the weeds away. The conveniently cordless EasiWeeder is powered by an 18V Flymo 'Power For All' battery that can be shared across a wide range of garden tools within the 'Power For All' alliance, including from brands such as Bosch and Gardena. This battery should give you 45 minutes of weeding time from a single charge.
This has a telescopic shaft and an adjustable handle, so you should be able to find the ideal operating position to suit you. There are two types of brushes supplied: one nylon and one metal. The steel brush is best for tough tasks, and you can adjust the intensity of the sweeping with a dial control on the handle.
Tried and tested by Modern Gardens Commerce Content Writer Amy-Mae Turner: "As a cordless option, this Flymo EasiWeeder takes a Power For All battery, so if you've already bought into that battery system, you can buy this as a 'bare' tool. If not, it is a bit of an investment for a relatively niche product. Having said that, it's really, really good at what it does, removing grass and weeds with time-saving ease.
I was seriously impressed with the power this tool produces, especially considering it's cordless. I initially tried moss removal with the metal brush on the highest setting (see images for the 'before and after' of this), and I am convinced it also removed a thin layer of concrete. This effectiveness means this tool throws up a lot of dust, but, on the plus side, it means it's doing the job. However, I would strongly recommend wearing safety goggles and a face mask.
This tool did clog several times when I was trying to clear larger weeds. I found this quite annoying as it meant I had to go inside and grab the Allen key to remove the brush from the tool head, pull out the trapped weeds, and then reattach the brush. Next time I use this I will make sure the Allen key ready in my pocket.
The only negative I have about this electric weed remover is that it doesn't come with spare brushes, but otherwise I can give this very effective tool a huge thumbs up."
Pros
- 18V battery is part of the 'Power For All' alliance
- Brush speed is adjustable to suit different tasks
Cons
- This is not supplied with any extra brushes
This Garden Gear weed sweeper is a corded power tool, so it's not as convenient as the cable-free choices we're featuring. However, this does mean it is one of the more affordable options on this list. The power cable measures in at 10 metres, or around 30 foot, so it should be long enough for most outdoor spaces.
This comes with two brushes; nylon and steel, to suit your weeding task. This tool is powered by a 140W motor but weighs in at a relatively lightweight 1.7 kilograms, so these two factors should see you clearing your paving quickly and comfortably. Your safety is taken care of with a transparent visor over the brush area.
Tried and tested by Modern Gardens Commerce Content Writer Amy-Mae Turner: "This weed sweeper from Garden Gear is a mid-range option with the electric corded design keeping the price down, meaning it's on the affordable side of things. Performance-wise, it does the job, although it took several passes to clear clumps of grass growing through paving; a few passes to destroy the grass and several more to clear the roots.
I didn't love having to drag an extension lead outside and manage the power cable, ensuring it was well clear of the tool's brush, but that is the compromise with a more affordable corded tool.
It is lightweight and comfortable to hold and manage. I love that you can buy this bundle from Thompson and Morgan, which gives you a spare set of brushes. After considerable testing, the two brushes I used showed barely any wear, so grabbing a good value set of the electric power tool and four brushes should see you sorted for budget-friendly weed removal for many seasons to come."
Pros
- Power cable is long at 10 metres for better reach
- Transparent safety visor over the brush area
Cons
- Only comes with two styles of brush
Best cordless electric weed remover

Einhell calls this garden tool a 'grout cleaner,' but it's essentially the same as the other long-handled weed removers we're featuring. It uses nylon and a steel brush to clear growth out of cracks in hardstanding. This is a battery-powered, cordless tool that takes an Einhell Power X-Change battery.
This boasts a telescopic shaft, and the auxiliary handle can be adjusted to a height that suits your working stance. Both handles have an ergonomic design and a soft grip finish for comfort during prolonged use. Other features of note include a safety shield over the brush area and a handy guide wheel.
Pros
- The Power X-Change battery can be used with other Einhell tools
- Telescopic shaft and adjustable auxiliary handle
Cons
- Reviewers suggest it's quite noisy to use

Another cordless choice, this electric weeder's 4Ah Li-ion battery is compatible with any product from the VonHaus 20V garden range, which includes a hedge trimmer, leaf blower, and grass strimmer. It boasts a telescopic handle, a D-bar grip, and a side wheel.
Claiming to have all your weeding needs covered, this is supplied with a 8mm steel brush and a 15mm steel brush, these are ideal for use on stone, driveways, paving, and concrete. The 8mm nylon brush can be used on wood and other softer surfaces, with reviewers saying it works well on moss.
Pros
- Comes complete with three different style brushes
- Small nylon brush is suitable for use on decking
Cons
- Battery takes 2.5 hours to reach full charge
Best budget electric weed remover

We're naming this our best budget choice as not only does the tool have a pocket-friendly price tag, but the replacement brushes are half the cost of comparable branded options. It is mains-powered and has a 150W electric motor to power the brushes. The power cable measures in at 10 metres.
This weed remover has a soft-touch main handle and a small auxiliary handle for easier handling of the two-kilogram tool. A guide wheel helps you stay on target, and a transparent spray guard helps protect you from any flying debris you create from your weed-culling action.

- Replacement brushes are considerably cheaper than rivals
Cons
- Auxiliary handle is small compared to others

- Reviewers rate this tool for efficient moss removal
Cons
- You might have to opt for a different manufacturer for the replacment brushes
Best strimmer-style electric weed remover

This cordless weed remover from Wrneaoch is the only strimmer-style tool we're featuring. While it doesn't boast the crack-cleaning precision of the weed remover with vertically positioned brushes, it is incredibly effective at clearing large areas of long, overgrown, problem weeds and unwanted garden growth.
As well as two circular metal blades, you also get four smaller metal blades and a set of plastic ones suitable for other garden tasks such as strimming grass borders and hedge trimming. This has a telescopic handle and comes complete with a charger and two rechargable batteries.
Pros
- Very fast and effective weed clearing action
- Supplied with a variety of attachments for different tasks
Cons
- This tool is not suitable for moss removal
Frequently asked questions about electric weed removers
What else can I use an electric weed remover for?
As well as tackling weeds, these brush-style electric weed removers can be very efficient at moss removal. In most cases, this should be possible by using the nylon brush, but if the moss is particularly stubborn, you may need to use the metal brush.
What do I need to know about using an electric weed remover?
They're dusty - Depending on the area you're weeding, these tools can throw out a lot of debris - in all directions. It's essential to wear safety googles while you're using these tools, and we'd also recommend a facemask to stop you breathing in the dust.
They kick - Be cautious the first time you fire one up of these tools - once they hit your hardstanding they can deliver a bit of a kick that you need to be ready to apply strength to control.
They clog - If you try and remove taller weeds and grass you run the risk of the brushes clogging. You may need to remove the brush from the tool to clear more considerable clogs.
They're noisy - You don't want to be using any of these tools at 7am on a Sunday, and your neighbours certainly won't want you to.
What other tools can help to remove weeds from my garden?
Manual weeding tools are the simple option, but if you are plagued with weeds on areas of hardstanding such as paths and patios you could consider using a weed burner. These work by applying intense heat directly to the plant, making them wither, shrivel up, and die.
